Description

A shirt that moves between seasons and occasions with quiet confidence. The Khair Shirt pairs a relaxed, straight silhouette with a comfortable collar and a statement sleeve shape, taking you from casual workdays to brunch tables, breezy beach days to semi-formal dressing without missing a beat. Each piece is the result of centuries-old craft traditions brought together from three art clusters across India.

Handspun, hand-woven, and finished with plant-based colours, the Khair Shirt carries the rare texture and depth that only genuine handloom fabric can produce. Kalamkari hand-block printing, a tradition tracing its lineage to the cave paintings era, adds a considered artisanal detail to every piece. Part of a limited edition run, it is made through closed-loop manufacturing to reduce waste at source.

About the brand

Jiwya

Jiwya is rewriting the future of fashion through the power of plants, heritage craft and a soil to soil philosophy.

Derived from the Sanskrit word Jeev, Jiwya represents care for every life, soul and spirit on this planet. It is a name that reflects a way of creating that honours the earth at every stage of a garment’s journey, from where materials are grown to how they eventually return to the soil.

The brand was founded in 2022 by two textile scientists who left their careers in the United States to confront the environmental challenges of the fashion industry. Their search for answers took them across continents and then across India, travelling more than 19,000 kilometres and visiting over 200 cities to understand traditional textile knowledge and the potential of regenerative materials. Out of that journey, Jiwya was born.

At its core, Jiwya believes in the magic of the human hand and the intelligence of nature. The entire supply chain is 100 percent plant based, with no synthetic dyes, no plastics and no animal derived materials. Yarns, colours and textiles are created from plants and return to the soil completely. Shades are achieved through chemistry backed natural dyeing processes that use a fraction of the water required in conventional textile production. Even the used water nourishes the garden soil that supports the studio.

Jiwya partners with more than 150 artisan clusters across India, drawing on generational craft knowledge to create textiles rooted in heritage and shaped for contemporary global style. Every piece is handmade, and artisans are paid dignified wages well above industry norms. These makers hold centuries of expertise, and Jiwya brings their artistry to the forefront, celebrating award winning craftspeople and preserving traditions that deserve a global stage.

The brand operates within a thoughtful, fully circular ecosystem. Fabric scraps are upcycled into embellishments, accessories and fixtures. Nothing is wasted.

For Jiwya, fashion must not come at the expense of the planet, people or animals. Instead, it should honour craft, value resources and celebrate stories passed down through generations. It is plant based, handcrafted luxury designed with intention, beauty and deep respect for every hand involved.
